No.
It's my first point of contact.
Everyone has my number, and can get intouch any time, it's my own personal fit-in-your-pocket-laptop.
if you get my drift, photos, music, emails, internet, everything.
Plus, my leg would feel a hell of a lot lighter too. I'd walk funny.

You can all have it. If I don't know who's texting me. I usually just ignore it anyway unless they say who they are! Zero Seven Five One Four Eight Nine Six Four Three Two Enjoy!

Yep and quite happily. Only reasons I keep one now are:
1. I don't want to actually talk to my mother that often 2. I drive 75 miles each way to work and want to be safe.
Otherwise I would quite happily just have my work phone during the daytime and no phone at all during the evenings/weekends, and in fact, have done so in the past for many years!!

I'd rather keep mine.
I'm not always at home or on IM, and there are situations when returning a call the next day would be too late. Before the days of mobile phones people missed a lot of things; like premature birth and death or important business opportunities. Of course it's also useful if I need to contact someone urgently. In he past, it wasn't unusual for people who broke down in the middle of nowhere to die of hypothermia before they were discovered, or at least have to trudge all night to find help.
The only time mine's off is when I'm on holiday visiting my parents, because that's the only situation in which no one should be trying to reach me for any urgent reason.
I used to be on call a lot, so clearly I'd have been dismissed if I turned my phone off whatever the time - gross misconduct.
These days I leave it on anyway, because I know people aren't going to ring me at stupid o'clock unless it's really important.

Yeah, at the moment, I could easily live without one. I've had two test messages from people over the last 4 days, and I've not called anyone, or sent anything from it. I can't, in fact, as there's no credit on it. I often don't have it on me, at the moment. I suspect that if I'm employed again, that'll change, but in the meantime, who needs it?

No.
As bish said, it's my main port of call. It will become even more important when I get an iphone/touch hd so I can check emails etc. However, when I do go away somewhere, I tend to leave it on silent. If someone really needs to get through to me, they'll know how.

Nope, I use mine to get on MSN whilst at college, check bookface etc as they're all blocked at college. A bit of music, photos, video etc, you know all that stuff. Oh, and I sometimes send texts and make calls on it Actually, I don't think I could live without it, for the reasons others have said. Plus I like to keep in contact with people.

A few years ago, I hardly used my mobile phone to the extent that £10.00 credit would last me over a year. I never gave that number to many people, so I never really had anything important on it.
Since I got my iPhone on a monthly contract, I send thousands of texts every month and everybody has my number. I manage to use it so much that I have to charge it at least once a day!
To answer your question, I definitely could not live without my iPhone now. Sad, I know.
Peter.

Quite easily - some days I don't even turn mine on.
Managed before mobiles came along so can quite happily manage fine now without it.
Same with TomToms - never use them - prefer a map book - at least that doesn't take me into a river or some-such.

I think 'older' generations would be able to easily, they spent their childhood growing up without these gizmos, so could probably quite easily live without them. As for me? I grew up with all these electronic gadgets, so being able to leave them would be pretty tough I reckon.

Lol, without looking at your bookface to find out, I would say 18-25, but I did say 'older' generations, maybe being a little less careful about giving them up. You Sir, are one of the more fortunate of us

I managed for 25 years with no mobile, much of that with no phone at all - just a beeper and a phone card. I managed for 37 years with maps instead of Tomtom. I managed for many years without a washing machine. I managed without the Internet. I don't have a dish washer, but I'd like one. The gadgets are not perfect, and I can see it being a potential problem if people come to depend on them. However, they make my life more efficient. I want better gadgets - I don't want to go back to hand-washing and driving half blind trying to read the A-Z. I could if I had to, but it's no fun. I have a box of maps so heavy I can hardly carry it. Half the time I can't find the map for the town I'm going to, and if I can it's out of date. They're all out of date, but they'd cost £100s to replace. 8/10 journeys, Tomtom takes me to the door. The main problem with it is the post code map, which is a quirk of the UK postal system. Between Tomtom and Google Streetview, finding my destination has never been easier. One thing I don't like is talking hands-free when I'm driving. It would probably be easier in a Mercedes, but in every car I've had it's a struggle to understand what people are saying and it's distracting. However, for quickly updating people it's a real boon. Previously, I'd get a page saying "call the office" and I'd spend an hour trying to find the nearest working pay phone, only to discover they wanted an ETA - so my reply would usually be "I'd have been there half a f*cking hour ago if you hadn't of paged me!" The other times, it was to divert me somewhere else. I'll never understand why they didn't just tell me what they wanted in the damned message...
