I think I drank Virgin cola once. It was in one of those mini-sized cans. Didn't think much of it at the time. Never tried it since.

ION I just popped down to the kitchen to grab a snack and spotted a slug. Poured some salt onto it (a few handfuls). Let's see what's left in the morning. I was originally going to make a circle to trap it but I couldn't be arsed.

That's going to be nasty to clean :S

Handful's of salt, I doubt there will be much left than a quick sweep up unless it was a real monster!

I can't do it anymore, Facebook is going. I'd kill it now but I'm out on my phone so will have to wait until I'm on the PC later. I can't bear to read another illiterate, moronic, hypocritical or nonsense post. If I see one more status, photo or '99% of you won't repost this' chain mail from the deluded idiots that seem to inhabit my feed I might take to strangling myself. It's that bad. If you feel this might apply to you then it probably does. If you feel offended enough to delete me then please do before you miss your chance. In the meantime if you're not any of the above then you can find me on Twitter or Google+.

I commited Facebook suicide!!!!

That'll be why then. I imagine the [LIFTED] will follow the people - as always.

And Veato, I only stayed coz of stubborn, modern people like Prof who refuse to quit and keep on using the bloody thing. I hate it!

I haven't had an app request for months.
I did have one person who posted irritating pictures about the miracle of nature and opening your third eye, but she's moved to another account now, so that's groovy.
The majority of people I'm in touch with on there are cool groovy people who can spell and use punctuation.
If your contacts are making you annoyed, the simple answer is to start blocking their posts.

I stopped using facebook a few years back. Fairly recently, I got an email notification (which I hate) and it stated a new group was started by some friends for another friend. Turned out she had died unexpectedly (am unaware of the cause). That's something I'd have missed out on had I completely commited facebook suicide.

I treat Facebook like much of the rest of the Internet. I involve myself with stuff I like and ignore the stuff I don't. It's a shame that 80% of it is stuff I'm not interested in, but then, I have a life outside the Internet that i've constructed for myself that's 80% enjoyable.

Well, I'm there.

G+ is great for photography. There's a ton of great photographers on there, and some serious conversations go on, as well as folk posting some amazing shots in their galleries. G+ is all about making circles of people with the same interests as you, rather than the F*c*book method of ending up surrounded by mates and sundry family you wouldn't otherwise meet outside of a pub or family wedding.

I love G+ right now. I've made some great online photo acquaintances, got to interact on a serious level with some who I've followed through podcasts and blogs, and it's made me get out of my comfort zone and set up a local photowalk group.

I just checked, and I have circled 203 people, and I've been circled by over 2000 people - they're the ones who get to read my drivel even if I don't circle them back! If they make an effort to respond, I can decide whether to follow them later. I much prefer this to Facebook.

Sounds good Heather. I'm glad it's helped you with your photography.

My phone keeps insisting I'm on there, but my phone can do one. From a privacy standpoint, they're both as bad as each other. And I honestly believe G+ just doesn't have the numbers for too much crap right now; but it'll get there.

Maybe I'll change my mind with the photography thing. We'll see....

Do you still retain the copyright on your images? Or does Google have them?

I think that's why it's been a big hit with snappers. You retain copyright to your own work. However:

Google wrote:
By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.

You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this license shall permit Google to take these actions.

For this reason, I only upload stuff I'm happy to share in that way. I also restrict the size I upload, and watermark. Just like I do with Flickr, in fact.

The other thing is the whole privacy thing has been thought through better than Facebook, IMHO. I get to decide what gets shared, to whom and when. Google doesn't go changing those settings on a whim. I can also delete my whole profile with a single click, or download specific parts of my account for backup.

I might make a post I am happy to share with the entire world, or maybe I only want to share it with one person. I can post to circles, specific people or whatever. There's also a thing called "hangouts" where you can get a bunch of people in a circle together to live chat with. I haven't done one yet, but then I'm never completely comfortable in that sort of situation. Some of the pros I follow have done hangouts, and it's been interesting to see the great feedback they get.

On the whole, I find the G+ experience much more professional than Facebook. I've also noted many companies are setting up pages there, so there's still traction and it's only a year old. The whole thing about G+ is it's not FB, and people who come to it expecting it to be like their FB life are confused and (possibly) disappointed. You have to work at your G+ links and friendships to make it work for you.

Come on in, the water's lovely! You can find me by searching for my full name - Heather Kavanagh - or I've got a shortcut to my profile: http://www.gplus.to/snaptophobic

Once you start circling people, you find new people are suggested (like FB) who are friends with or circled by those you have circled. I like the way it works, others don't. Try it and see.

A while ago I got a tax rebate. On the letter there was a "Tax reference" is this reference my tax code?
It consists of three numbers, a forward slash, two letters then five numbers, a little like this 123/XY45678 (I don't know if tax codes are supposed to be confidential otherwise I'd post the actual code).

Mark

The tax reference is a unique code which identifies you to the revenue. The tax code refers to how much you earn before tax and is usually something like 862L

hope this is clear :)
