A few months back, I tried to buy something online with my credit card. It wouldn't process and I noticed it had expired. Had to ring the credit card company and they sent out a new one.

Today, looking through a box of some stuff, I find the replacement they had sent me a few months back.

They generally do send a new one out before the old one expires!

Saturday 25 August
Packing to go away for a couple of days noticed water seeping down the wall of the stairwell.
Called British gas who we have a contract with at about 9 am.

14:45 an engineer shows up announced he has fitted a new ball valve and leaves.

17:00 water is running again but worse ...........
Having spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get an answer the same engineer returns at about 22:15 says nothing leaking doesn’t know what the cause is, suggests thermostat has gone wrong, and leaves us with only cold water from the mains.

Sunday 26 August

08:15 another engineer shows up says not thermostat and replaces pump etc pronounces it fixed but will need a replacement mid point valve but that won’t cause us any problems for a few days.

He departs at about 11:30

13:45 no hot water, as in nothing coming out of the tap.

Currently awaiting to see if they can get yet another engineer here today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FFS

I know. The worst thing is I'd opened the envelope so clearly knew it had arrived, put it to one side and forgot about it - even when calling credit card company!

The Hard Boiled DVD I got from Blockbuster - The disc was scratched but apart from that, the film has just been transferred off the VHS or really badly compressed! It's grainy as all hell and loaded with 'artefacts' and glitches, for want of a better term :o

I'm thinking it's never been transferred to BR but I'll take a look...

Edit - Only in the US, strangely. I also forgot to mention that no matter what I did, the PS3 would only display it in 4:3 and that was out of alignment in it's strange gray box... Oh, and the subtitles are feckin' enormous no matter what player you've got

I've just found out I never submitted my time sheets for the nine days I spent on the Viking/Elgin in June, so I didn't get paid for it. - FAIL.
So I'm submitting them now with the time sheets for my current three week trip on the Gorilla 5. That means I'm going to get over four weeks worth of day rate in my September pay pack. - WIN.
