Just had a lovely phone call from 'Brian' at Microsoft. Apparently my computer has been generating all sorts of problems and sending the error reports back to Microsoft. "Oh no it hasn't." "Yes it has sir." "No, no it hasn't." "How can you say that sir, we are Microsoft! We made the operating system!" "And do you know who I am or what I do?" (Raised voice, he's getting angry) "How dare you! Sir if you do not give us the information we need, your licence will withdrawn and you won't be able to use your computer." "No you won't." "How dare you! You know nothing! (load of stuff in Urdu or Punjabi or something) *click*"
Yes he hung up on me. How dare he!

I've just had a flashback from a chance meeting with a former teacher of mine, a couple of years after I left his school. "Ahh, Matt Oliver, the bane of my life." Now at the time I had no idea what bane meant, and didn't look it up. I was reminded a little later when reading LOTR. Now should I take it as a compliment or criticism? On a similar note I found someone up here in Cairns who also went to the same school, had the same teacher etc. but a few years after me. His description of her was "an angel" and yet the really odd thing is that we both had exactly the same job in Cairns (Trip Director on Taka) aside from a time gap of several months. What are the chances? He was really strict and I know I must have tested his patience no end, but I have a lot of respect for him. Thinking about it I have more respect for the strictest teachers I've had.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Bratty, it's "reprimands" and you missed "off" where I wrote "of".

I need help looking for a news story that I read (using Google news) last Thursday or Friday in work. It was about a Mars panorama that had been created using images from some of the many different robots that have landed on the planet over the years. I've tried searching for the article but so far without luck.
If anyone would care to try a quick search perhaps you might be luckier than me in getting the story.
Thanks,
Mark
