The only criteria seems to have been the FGW were offering to return more money to the treasury. Story seems to be Virgin didn't 'lose' the franchise, they backed out of the race when they figured out they'd actually be paying the government to run the train service for them.
As a taxpayer, The idea of making some of the money back is a good thing but I very much doubt FGW are actually going to be able to stick to all the promises they've made. More seats, more trains, no redundancies AND more money back to the state? There's a whopper of a fib in there somewhere. If it sounds too good to be true..

Perhaps First also have an emu farm, I've heard they're quite lucrative.

That panorama works really well on a device with gyros (i.e. a smartphone or tablet). One of my coworkers span around on the spot so much he got dizzy :).

Itching to try a Chromebook/Chromebox (or both), but not sure if I can actually justify the limited functionality or the cost.

Received a firewire DVD burner from a seller on eBay.
No power supply.
As the seller stated right at the end of the description 'no cables etc' would you reasonably read that as being 'no power supply or firewire cable'?

Interesting one. He did say 'no cables' and, taken literally, that means no power supply. But you could argue that without the power supply it's not actually a working product, and he should have stated the fact in the description.

However, in reality, it's probably less hassle for you to buy a new power supply off Amazon for a fiver than get involved in eBay's dispute resolution procedure.

His description was this:
Quote:
Welcome to my listing for this external drive by LaCie..
Has been in dry storage for about six months, was fully working the last time I used it.
It has a very good drive including LightScribe, Writemaster, DVD R/RW, DVD+ ReWritable & CD ReWritable Ultra Speed+

I now, no longer have the laptop I used it with, so I am unable to test if working, but as said before was working fine last time used.
Because of this I will accept a return on this item if found to be not working and will issue full refund upon receipt.

It was a great drive for me when used, so am confident it will be of use to someone else for a good while longer.
Comes as shown in the photos, no cables etc..

Any questions please ask..

Now, the second paragraph infers that were it not the lack of a machine to test it with, it's working fine. Not that the power supply is AWOL.

Did the photo show the power supply?
