I had been looking forward to going to a classic car and motor show down by the seaside in Whitstable. Free entry, free parking, weather looking good...
We couldn't find a single parking space. The place was stuffed to the gutters. Drove around the block four times (I now know many of the rat runs along Marine Parade intimately), and just gave up and drove home again.
What a shambles. From what I could see of the show itself it looked really good. Canterbury City Council don't seem to have considered the possibility of parking further out and shuttle buses in to the event. That's two people willing to visit and spend cash in the area who won't bother to attend any future events.

For once, Yodel (formerly Home Delivery Network) have got it right. I was out on Friday, they left a card, I rearranged the delivery for this afternoon, and about 10 minutes after I got home, they appeared with my new car tyres. FedEx, on the other hand, have been unable to deliver my parcel Friday and today. The tracking information says 'Incorrect address', despite the details being exactly the same as the last two parcels they delivered from the same US company.

Although the story they're running with may not be the whole truth. I've had reports from people working on the projects involved that it wasn't those systems being updated, it was other systems & in the process they identified several "security breaches" that had gone unnoticed until that point, hence the complete lockdown.

"AW SNAP" Youtube's HTML5 trial doesn't work with Chrome. Confirmed bug effecting multiple users. You'd think a Google thing would work on a Google thing. I've had to go back to Flash

Wondering why your credit card bill was so high after forgetting you'd bought a mobile phone Thinking 'I'm on their sh1tty site, might as well redeem my points'... and that bit's down for maintenance

Two weeks ago I sent a camera lens away to get serviced. Today, I got told how much it would cost to repair. It's beyond economic repair. I need to replace my lens. I can't buy that particular lens new any more, so I'll get the updated version. It's really something I could've done without right now. *sigh*

Seems to be a big difference between service and repair there. Which lens and what problem did it have?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I guess the problems were spotted when the lens went in for service. It neded the internal optics cleaning and the zoom looking at because it wasn't nearly as smooth as it should have been. Apparently the zoom ring needs replacing and there's also issues with the auto-focus mechanism. It's a Nikon 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 They don't make these any more as it's been updated to an f/4 with different enclosure and VRII. Mark

My normal overground train from Highbury to Richmond was not running this morning. What a good start for the Olympics as it's the line to Stratford.

How's the Central Line and the overground lines out of Liverpool Street? Those are the ones to watch.
