I just take the one that's convenient for my travel plans.

I was inside a Voyager just recently, it was very quiet TBH, yes not quite as quiet as your standard Mark 3 coach but certainly more than pleasant. Voyagers are also a lot quieter than Sprinters of all 15x classes, which are horrific to travel in. As for external noise levels, I can still remember when Class 43s used to scream their way out of the station...

Whenever I'm on a Sprinter, I'm usually just grateful that it's not a Pacer. *shudder*

It's all over my head. I have a choice of Midland or Virgin. They're the same price, but the Virgin is twice as fast and has more comfortable seats. I never take the Midland if I can avoid it.

Not much choice down here, it's a 158 every two hours or a bus... I've not done a lot of travel on other units and fund the 158s much mor acceptable than the London Midland units that shuttle in and out and brum. I also don't find teh noise distracting, but then again it's the best way to travel round here and the noise doesn't compare with sitting in the engine room of a loco doing testing!

True. Voyagers are one of the better DMU's (The Meridians are slightly better IMO). But that's like saying syphilis is one of the better sexually transmitted diseases. They should just electrify all the main lines IMO.

Hell yes. How those bus wrecks are still on the rails is beyond me.

The tablets I'm taking contain as much iron as 20Kg of raw spinach.
I'm all for organic remedies, but I'd rather take the tablets...

You used to be a train!? When I was a kid I had a friend who wanted to be a fire engine when he grew up...

not in the right train of thought today are we? or not on the right track your brain is railly slow today, maybe you should drink some expresso coffee to sharpen your mind a bit? or to let off some steam whilst at breaktime. Ill let you choose.

Good job you cleared that up I used to like trains when I was younger. Not to the extent of train spotting or anything but I do like most things with engines that move fast. A particular favourite was the Class 91 (225) but then I did live close to the East coast main line so saw plenty of them in GNER livery. I also once went on a visit to Doncaster Railway Works to see the mock up of the Eurostar train and carriages. I was let in by my uncle's friend who worked there and it was all very secretive. He let me take some photos but made me promise not to get them developed until the train had been seen in public. I was young at the time so I don't know if he was serious or pulling my leg.

The little one likes trains (as I guess most 4 year olds do). Took him on a steam train last week & let him travel in the Pullman car from the Devon Belle. He loved it.
