I've liked everything with Simon Pegg/Nick Frost in so I'll watch a movie on that basis alone. Otherwise I try to read reviews and make my own choice based on the synopsis.

Generally I don't like him as an actor, but I did enjoy Crimson Tide.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I chose all of the above
I will go and see something if its got a fav actor in it but generally it will be the story and occationally the review if its something I would not normally go and see but with a good review I would go out side of my comfort zone

I always think just how good Good Will Hunting would be with anyone else in it. As such it's just a very good film rather than an all time classic.

I like several Tatorts (each region produces their own Tatort, with their own actors). Münster, Köln (Cologne), Frankfurt and Leipzig. Each region has its own style as well and they are generally well made.
For Münster, Jan Josef Liefers, Axel Prahl and Christine Urspruch make a great team. The combination is funny, but they don't detract from the seriousess of the stories.
In Köln, Dietmar Bär and Klaus J Behrendt are a good team.
Simone Thomala and Martin Wuttcke are also very good.
Harald Krassnitzer from Tatort Wien (Vienna) is also very good.

I always think twice about Will Ferrel films. The only good one he's done is Megamind, and that was a voice over.

As with most others - it's the content first and foremost - and prefer to folow Directors (looking forward to "Hara Kiri" by Takashi Miike, Kevin Smith's back catalogue is pretty much flawless, and Wes Anderson - for all his quirks, and if we forget Fantastic Mr. Fox, makes very good movies) over actors - but that said... I will watch anything with Sam Rockwell in - for me he's a great actor who consistently , delivers in a good variety of movies. Vincent Cassell (although his rise to stardom has seen him do some pretty poor roles lately) and Ray Winston (cliche'd & typecast but so good to watch on screen) and Cillian Murphy also grab my attention whenever I spy them in a new film. Then there's "obvious" lad-movie choices like Jet Li, Tony Leung, Van Damme & Jason Statham. I am also guilty of watching anything with Scarlett, Natalie and/or Kiera in. Yes, you read that correctly. And with good reason. But I can't stand Jamie Foxx (for wanting to be Denzel) more. I feel ashamed that Clint didn't make that first list. For both acting and directing. The man's a (genius) legend. Oh and BTW: Clearly you need to watch Man on the Moon.

Is it just me or is American comedy generally crap these days? I can't remember the last comedy where I thought 'Must tell people about that.' The last funny film I saw (wasn't a straight-up comedy) was Red I think. In fact there were more laughs in Wanted the other night than I've had with the average comedy
