EDIT: Just noticed that the automatic is slower and has a lower top speed, so may not be as enjoyable to drive as a manual.

A manual would be more enjoyable if it was slower than an automatic.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

It's more the case that as an option it's something like 700 quid, whereas the top of the range TomTom is only about 250 quid. Unless you really can't deal with an 'add on' sat nav, 500 quid extra is a lot to pay...

It depends. My VW "satnav" is a touch screen unit that plays mp3s, DVDs, iPod etc ie it's more than just a satnav. Having said that, most aftermarket units are far superior in their capabilities.

I know what I want. Whether it's practical or affordable on the other hand.....

From what I read the Toyota Touch system comes as standard?

I think...

I haven't taken one for a test drive or anything, but right now I wouldn't mind a Juke.

Yes, the 'touch' is audio and bluetooth hands free. It will allow you to play music from various devices & the radio and it shows contact details on the screen if someone calls you, that kind of stuff.

More details here (which, for some reason, Toyota make quite hard to find).

Ah, OK!

So, Toyota Touch is standard but the SatNav (Toyota Touch and Go) costs the extra £700 :D

Coolio :D

My Dad's refurbish/restoring one of those. Bought it when he retired and has been tinkering with it ever since. Was in a pretty rubbish state but right now it's drivable in the summer (the roof doesn't come up properly) :D.

My ha'penny worth:

Top speeds are meaningless. Decent 0-30 and 0-60 are more useful. The times you can explore your new cars 70/80+ performance will be on a track. And seriously, how many track days are you likely to do in your brand new motor?
More bhp is good, but more torque is better, I'd say.
Re. the automatic vs. manual thing - are you driving in town a lot? Do you find your mainly going 1-2-1-2-1-2-maybe 3-2 a lot? Get an auto. Seriously. Life's too short.
I've found the modern trend lately of having a 6 speed manual a total PITA. You're forever having to shift up and down to keep the car in the useful rev range.
I don't mind shifting gears manually, but the future is undoubtably automatic. I think the automatic will have a better mpg because it's managing the entire system, rather than having to dance about what you think you want.

Bags of torque, 3 long gears in an automatic box that you can barely detect a shift with except with the engine noise - I'm a happy chap.

You're not the only one to tell me the car looks like it's been hit with the ugly stick.
I like distinctive looking cars, and I don't think even you can argue that the Juke isn't distinctive.
Like I say, I haven't driven one so I don't know what it handles like, but I'd certainly give it a good try.

I actually nearly wrote that you enjoyed your 'distinctive looking' cars. But I just got lazy when it came to typing it out. :)

I don't hide the fact. (8+)
It's good to know others have noted this, though.

Disagree. 30-70 is more useful as a measure of torque and power. There aren't many times when you floor it from the traffic lights just to get to 30 mph.
