Wind's knocked my sky dish out of alignment, been in the shed looking for one of my set top boxes. Found two stereos, two sets of speakers one and a half sets of hi fi separates, two DVD players, two sky digiboxes, god knows how many transformers, cables and leads, but not one set top box. Grrr.

My £500 HTC has 2 bars of signal when it's on the desk, but none when I pick it up. My £10 Nokia has full signal even if I wrap it in foil, put it in a biscuit tin and then put it in the fridge. (don't ask why I know...)

JJ, you've got to stop using the Grip Of Death™. That's for iPhones, remember?

Well, to be fair, they've only just got their heads around the differences between Manchester and Salford. The damp and drizzly bit between Salford and London is easily confused, don't you think?

I still don't understand why they chose Salford. Could they not have picked a worse place in Manchester?

Without wanting to be too literal, yes, they very much could have picked a worse places in Manchester. Like, I dunno, most of the rest of it in fact.

The exact bit they are in (MediaCity) has had an absolute crap-ton of money poured into it and is quite 'new upmarket' - it's the location of the Lowry theatre and the Imperial War Museum North among other things. It's designer flats and boutique hotels and office blocks full of 'new media startups'. It's also about 10 minute's walk from Old Trafford (both football and cricket grounds)

Of course, you go about two miles away as the crow flies and you'll find lots of people who are more or less on the bread-line. The BBC makes sure it's staff don't get involved with any of that and in fact has bought a shed load of those designer flats which it's allowing the 'talent' to stay in rent-free, as a sweetener for them having to move out of London. Of course quite a lot of the talent hasn't moved out of London in any real sense, they live in what is effectively an arcology rent free during the week and then fly back South on Friday night - the late flight Manchester to Heathrow on Friday is apparently pretty much block-booked by the BBC. They've no more moved North than the workers on an oil rig have 'moved' hundreds of miles out in to the North Sea.

The bare fact is the BBC may have moved out to 'the regions' but they've not engaged with the local area in anything worth a damn. They live in an affluent enclosed community and then sod off back down south whenever they can.

During a consultation, I needed to grab some equipment which was beig calibrated (including scales). Promptly dropped t whilst trying to open door into my room. Squatted down to pick it all up. RIIIIIIIPPPP!!!! Nice new hole in my trousers from where the seams of the inner legs join to midway back pocket.

Cue me trying to avoid patients realising by never turning my back to them or staying sat instead of jumping out of my seat like I normally do. Managed to make it home without it being spotted. Just had linch, gonna iron mew trousers and head back again.

All on the strength of one video, I suspect. ;)

No Rachel Riley in the Top 100? :(
