Transport Secretary Justine Greening has outlined how the government plans to save billions of pounds from spending on the railways.

It follows a review last year by Sir Roy McNulty which said running costs should be cut by a third, bringing them in line with other European networks.

Heather posted this on Twitter this morning. Watch the Tories [LIFTED] up the rail network now.

While at the same time, there’s the notion of “peak peak” rail fares.

While I'm generally into cost cutting and reducing tax payer subsidies of private industries, I have to say I think public transport is one area where the tax payer should help. Trains are vital for getting people to work without clogging up the roads.
IMO the government should ditch the HS2 plan and spend that cash on lengthening platforms at all stations. That way commuter trains can be much longer and ease overcrowding.

Absolutely. I’d add in the energy suppliers too. Anything vital should not be in the hands of the private sector.

water stored capacity - Wales - 95%
water stored capacity - Scotland - 93%

water stored capacity - England - 37%

the water meters are coming ...

I think we all know what happened last time. As @DIMBLEBOT put it on Twitter last night:
