Are we all forgetting that Blue is currently not in the UK?

Thanks Si, yes indeedy, I don't just sit up in the middle of the night posting, if I can point you all to my location you'll see I remain in the wonderful land of Oz. Anyway, we finally got out and had a play with a couple tonight*, she thinks she likes the one with the full keyboard, I personally am not bothered either way except the only full keyboard version for sale here also comes with 3G which we don't really need and hence drives the price up so the lady is yet again considering her options. *of kindles. I read that back and decided it was waiting for JV's input.

I have the keyboard version (non-3G). I do occasionally use it to make a few brief notes, but only on academic stuff which is in the minority on my Kindle. The only other time I use it is when buying stuff on the kindle, but most of the time I'd much rather use the proper website-based store from my laptop if that's nearby. My Mum has the new, non-keyboard (non-touch) version, and seems to get on fine with it. If I were buying now I'd get that version too. Touch doesn't really appeal at all to me for eBook-readers, and seems to be just added so another buzzword can be added to the marketing.

It seems that my relative absence from these parts has done nothing to diminish my reputation... *smirk*

That actually looks practical. Though how many ebooks do members have? If you have 1000 then sure it is very handy but if it is three isn't this just bling.

It's ideal for going offshore. I only have space for two or three normal books in my bag. They can be read in two shifts if nothing is happening.

For someone with your situation it is brilliant. But how many ebooks do you have?

We only have a hundred or so, but the current Kindles are still fine, so we won't be upgrading yet.

Just so you know, my 'one click order' decided on a funky delivery price, so I had to go back and change it to super saver cheap-ass rate

The reason I asked was some you can read on a computer so wondered if you had bought some before waiting for a decent ebook reader.
