So I believe, I couldn't even get past the super-shiny CGI...

I don't mind the idea of making them all-action "fun" cash in, but all the big fights were ruined by ludicrously over the top CGI sets and the wave after wave of comedy cannon-fodder robots were just silly. Totally brainless, annoying and tedious film. No redeeming qualities apart from Boonta Eve

That said, some of the CGI looks horrendous now.

George will fix that.

I have interesting memories of The Phantom Menace. The first is that on my way to work, I’d drive past Leavesden Studios, which was where a lot of it was filmed. There’s be flats, blue screen and green screen stuff, as well as large props. The local paper apparently hired a helicopter to get in closer to see what they could spot. Leavesden, at the time, had one of the largest outdoor grass lots going, so a lot of Naboo is bits of Watford!

The other thing I did was setting up a website for a gift company who had a lot of merchandise in advance, and which was therefore top-secret. I had to photograph it all for the online store, which was fun. I got to keep a few samples too. The Pit Droid keyring was great, but didn’t last that long. It started breaking after a few months’ use. I have a Darth Maul from that escapade mug somewhere.

Star Wars remade by fans....15 seconds at a time.

Quote:
In 2009, Casey Pugh asked thousands of Internet users to remake "Star Wars: A New Hope" into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted. Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.

SWU has been featured in documentaries, news features and conferences around the world for its unique appeal. In 2010 we won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media.

Have a look here. I've seen the first few minutes and the abrupt changes in style and budget every 15 seconds are quite funny. I liked the cardboard Star Destroyer.
