'tie not even that they are so bad when looked at.. AACC (and an a in an as). But all offers are based upon variations of the grade, grade, grade -1. Most places that want AAB won't look at me, ABB is very questionable as well as many won't sub a grade down for a grade up in another subject.

End up looking at BBB, BBC and suchlike and ask the question is it worth 9k a year in fees. Plus it has caused problems for my gap year...gah.

Well it really depends on what you want to do. Many careers do not need a degree plus if you want to go to uni it gives you the chance to go next year with definite results.

Sorry to hear that. What were you hoping to read at uni?

I'd still try clearing and pushing through.

Is the gap year essential, or is it an extended "holiday"? If its not that important and you can get into a course you want to do (maybe not at the place you want to go to though) then go now.

I was watching Newsnight last night and they were saying how tough it was to get a place through clearing, but you never know.

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were interviewing someone from UCAS. When the interviewer complained that it was a scandal that the UCAS clearing lines were 'only' open from 8AM until 8PM, I was dying for the interviewee to reply '[lifted] off, I'm not taking that from someone who only works three hours a day'.

Clearing is tougher but there are still places. They won't advertise them as much though. I know friends who've previously got onto courses like pharmacy, dentistry and even medicine through clearing. You just have to ring all of the universities and ask.

I dropped my mobile phone in my car when I left it for it's MOT/service the other day. I didn't notice until I tried to find it yesterday...

Due to my fail of an iPod (love It really), I can't quote when I reply.

Basically, my situation is complicated and then some.
My gap year was supposed to be 8 months working and 5 travelling. BUT the job required 340 UCAS points from 3 alevels. I am 20 off, though have a fourth alevel (which may or may not make up for it). Currently waiting to find out if I can still take part on the scheme ( 3 days of interviews and a few months looking forwards to it).

I can't enter clearing until I know if I have a gap year job. Also as I haven't applied, I am not in the UCAS system. Plus, I have already rang Cardiff and QMU and no history courses left (what I am looking for). Oh and did I mention - I am abroad until the 28th. So I still don't know the detailed marks from 3/4 of the alevels, they have been posted. I probably should have stayed home, but didn't expect to drop 6 grades on my predictions (!!!).

Having two papers remarked, but nay not get the result until the 5th sept. Too late for clearing and the placement.

So yeah, open uni sounds good :) this could end ok, but I'm 50/50.

Post office fail.

I called in and asked how much for a 11Kg parcel shipped to London - cheapest rate.

£23

Parcel2go did it for less than half that.

That is what comes of allowing private businesses to cherry pick the most profitable services. The remaining services become ever less competitive. Watch the NHS for a re-run.
