As I like to get people unique birthday gifts Im after buying a very expensive sports car to hire out for my dads birthday gift as I cant think of anything else, Just curious if anyone knew of any companys in "UK" countries that would possibly deliver the car where I live (with charge of course) to rent it for a few days? is it even possible, dont think anyone would be able to help but thought id just ask here for a start, searched online but no luck as of yet

There was a site that let you hire cars like Aston Martins and such but the requirements were quite strict and I wasn't old enough at the time.

hm the sites are saying minimum age: 30 (and theres me thinking I was old?) so its possible I can still hire and order the car to be delivered to me but just not use it?

It would be best to ask. The age criterion is probably for insurance purposes and because it wouldn't be you driving, it wouldn't be you who needs to be insured.

I'd talk to them, arrange the date, then drag your dad down there, with his driving licence, and then he will have to sign the forms and get the insurance, but you cough up the wonga...

A cautionary tale or two...

I have a friend who is a member of a sports car club - you know the sort of thing, you have so many points for the year to allocate as you like (either all of them on a Lambo LP640 or a couple things like an E-type and Porsche).
The E-type he hired for a weekend dropped it's exhaust in central London; examination showed it had been held on with a coat hanger. God knows what the rest of the car was like.

The last weekend, friends of the family hired a DB9 as a surprise present. It turned up, muddy, tatty interior. Driving down to Bournemouth in it, it became apparent there was no airflow into the cabin. The hirer said 'Push her on a bit and it'll blow through'. It didn't. In fact it didn't feel safe at all.
When they arrived at the hotel, the company said 'Take it to one of these three garages and they'll sort it in 15 minutes.'
Which garage can fix an Aston in 15 minutes?
Our friend is ex-motor trade, told them 'No, replacement.' (edit - upon examination of the log book, it hadn't been serviced in 4 years.)
Replacement arrived, couldn't get it to start so it couldn't get off the low loader. Then they noticed three of the tyres were flat on the original DB9 that had been recommended to be 'Pushed on a bit.'

Advice I'd give would be to ask if you can see the car first somewhere, check where you stand on vehicle recovery and maybe don't expect too much.

wont be able to do that probably, It says they can deliver anywhere in Scotland so its probably possible they deliver the car and then my dad just signs it on the spot?

Possibly Bratty... You really need to 'phone them and ask them how they want to arrange it.

I notice in the blurb "from £360 per day" - that probably means that in the depths of winter it's £360 a day - summer, more like £600.

Avis Prestige hire stuff like this, but only from Airports. A DB9 is £1,000 for 2 days, a DBS is £1,200. Lamborghinis can only be hired for 5 days from Glasgow/Edinburgh airports for around £4,000.


How far are you from Knockhill? They do lots of different driving experience days for around £200.

There used to be a scam that particularly affected exotic car hire where the renter was charged huge damages claims (bodywork and running gear) on return of the car - even if no damage had been thought to have been done. A nice little earner that was difficult to disprove if you didn't have all of the documentary evidence and quite difficult even if you did. So care advised. I would assume that all the people mentioned are reliable but take heed of the warning, then take heed of it again!

If hiring a car for road use and paying a substantial deposit, inspect the car with a fine-tooth comb before taking delivery, so you cannot be charged for damage you did not do. Use a digital camera to take photos. Get the delivery driver or the rental clerk to sign the inspection sheet with all previous damage marked, and do the same when returning the car so you cannot later on be charged for damage you did not do."
