I am noticing this habit of dropping the word “the” when saying the date. So instead of “October the 22nd” we get “October 22nd” or “22nd October”. This is clearly an American import.

So what is gratifying is that for the joke to work, you (and the Americans) HAVE to say “the”. “May fourth be with you” just does not work. :lol:

That's been annoying me for years, but unfortunately it has reared it's ugly head here. To make matters worse I am encountering " May twenty two", they've removed the ordinal indicators ffs.
