WFT? I can't understand how Hamilton got penalised too, Alfonso clipped the back of him - I've watched the footage again and I can't see more than one change of direction on Hamilton's Maclaren, unless the TV footage didn't show it all. Very harsh on Maclaren IMHO.
Anyhow, that said, what a great race, really enjoyed that one! A lot of overtaking, although it's a tiny bit artificial, who cares - it spices things up nicely and, like others have said, the DRS just enables the driver to get their nose side by side, what happens next is still down to driver skill and the better car under braking.
Looking forward to next week!

Totally agree, poor call imo.

+1 - and just to add insult to injury Alonso's 20 second penalty keeps him in 6th, but Hamilton's drops him to 8th; bit early in the season for Ferrari favouritism really. But yes, a good race all round - Webber did well to finish as high as he did, given the problems he had - and I'm very happy with the MB/DC combo; so glad JL isn't commentating any more - he always struck me as some sort of horse-racing commentator who's stumbled into the wrong commentary box...

The changes of direction occured earlier, or as the BBC put it. Alonso causing a collision, well how many other collisions like that are there that go unpunished? Doesn't really seem like favouritism at all to Ferarri. But if Alonso complained then perhaps the FIA said 'take that for yourself' even though it didn't actually punish him. So perhaps it is favouritsm. Oh well it's only a game at the end of the day.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

To me Hamilton’s defence was no worse than Massa on Button in Melbourne but as already pointed out we only see what the camera allows.

TBH if Hamilton transformed his car into a monster truck, reversed over Alonso's car then jumped out of the cab and spent the next three years plucking Alonso's mahoosive eyebrows I'd still blame Alonso.

What a great race! Shame Button couldn't holdout for the podium, but Webber was on fire. Hamilton was incredible. The Mercs are looking competitive. ...and Massa finishes in front of Alonso again Just heard a member of the Red Bull pit crew call Button a cheat for pulling into their pit box by mistake.

I don't think what Button did was deliberate. Awesome stuff from Hamilton and unbelievable strategy/driving from team Webber.
Really enjoyed this race.

Any mention of Alonso being investigated because of his DRS working out of the correct zone? EDIT - The BBC has an article now, apparently it was a malfunction. So much for a failsafe on what could be quite a dangerous occurence.
