Walking Dead game inbound from Telltale

Telltale Games has scooped the rights to produce a game based on AMC cable network's zombie series, The Walking Dead.

That's according to and All Things Digital report, which says the company is also set to announce its deal with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to develop a game based on the comic book series, Fables. (Welcome, game title confusion).

These join the recent Back to the Future game, along with a Jurassic Park title in a deal with Universal pictures. Telltale is going to be pretty busy, then.

There are no gameplay details or release ETAs, but more is expected to come from Telltale at a special event today.

Meanwhile, all zombie talk right now is focused around the incredible-looking Dead Island trailer which has been causing quite a fuss this week.

Tom Hardy said on the Alan Carr show he'd bulk up to 14 stone to play Bane (he's around 13 at the moment) :)

Kevin Costner To Join Zack Snyder’s New SUPERMAN Movie??

Kevin Costner (“The Company Men”), the closest we’ve come yet to a big-screen Aquaman, now looks likely to play a key role in Zack Snyder’s Superman movie, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Little-known Henry Cavill (“Stardust,” “The Tudors”) plays the Man of Steel, and Superman movies have a tradition of using more established actors to play supporting roles.

Snyder’s project is rumored to be a kind of “Superman Begins,” following Clark Kent’s travels between Smallville and Metropolis, so there’s a chance we won’t see much of Lois or Lex in this one.

No word on who Costner plays, though Pa Kent wouldn’t seem like a terrible fit to me.

The filmmaker’s prior credits include “Dawn of the Dead,” “300,” “Watchmen,” “Legends of the Guardians” and “Sucker Punch.”

Costner’s other recent credits include “Rumor Has It,” “Mr. Brooks” and “Swing Vote.”

Find all of Deadline’s exclusive on the matter here.

Preacher finally finds a director in DJ Caruso

“I’m pretty f**king pumped!”

I Am Number Four and Disturbia director DJ Caruso has confirmed that he’s just closed a deal to direct a movie adaptation of Garth Ennis’ comic series Preacher.

The adap has long been stranded in development hell, with various talents approaching and then backing begrudgingly away from the epic, Gods-demons-and-angels-stuffed storyline.

Now Caruso has confirmed his deal by Tweeting: “My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty [LIFTED] pumped!”

Small wonder that he’s excited. A Preacher movie is a tantalising prospect, its foul-mouthed hero Jesse Custer a young preacher who has the power to speak in God’s voice.

Then there’s his ball-busting ex-girlfriend Tulip and Irish vampire Cassidy (as well as the brilliantly-named Arseface), who all embark on a blood-soaked road trip as Jesse attempts to track down God and make him pay for abandoning the world.

Previously Sam Mendes was attached to direct from a script by John August. With Mendes now helming the 23rd Bond movie, it’s not known if Caruso will still use August’s script.

I've found Caruso's TV efforts to be far more punchy than his film output :(

And no, I still haven't read the GNs yet ;)

Michael Bay To Produce ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS!

Published on: Feb 22, 2011 4:06:15 PM CST

Nordling here.

Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company, along with Sony Pictures, has scooped up rights to ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS, a comic book series by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood, according to Deadline. I've not read the comic, so I can't speak for the quality, but the title alone, and the production company behind it, makes me sigh and shake my head.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong, and zombies and robots, taken by themselves, are fine by me. Maybe together they will be like chocolate and peanut butter. Or they could be like sirloin steak and motor oil. Too early to tell at this point. At least it's not a sequel. Potentially it could be a really interesting and thrilling franchise. The art that I've seen online looks promising, and the premise, a young girl protected by robots and pursued by intelligent zombies, could be fun. But so far Platinum Dunes hasn't given us any work to get overly excited about.

Nordling, out.

Mark Zuckerberg: The Comic launches today

Step aside Tony Stark! There's a new billionaire comic book hero in town in the shape of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

But whereas the Iron Man series tracks the evil-fighting adventures of red-suited, armed-to-the-gills playboy Stark, Zuckerberg's graphic novel chronicles the King of Social Networking's rise to renown.

The 48-page 'Mark Zuckerberg: Creator of Facebook' trade paperback, from BlueWater comics, goes on sale today, written by freelance writer Jerome Maida

Fairer than Fincher

Maida says that his biographical story aims to be fairer to Zuckerberg than David Fincher's The Social Network film, which presented the Facebook kingpin in a less than flattering light.

He says: "Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire on the planet and created something that has already had a profound impact on the world. Yet hardly anyone knows much about him. It's amazing.

"Rightly or wrongly, Mark dealt harshly with some people on his way to where he is today. As we see, he left many people feeling betrayed. I try my best to be fair here."

The comic is available now to buy from all good comic book stores and some rubbish ones too.

Heh, I'm quite interested in that, more than the film :)

Well Thor was always going to be a difficult film to get right, but this doesn't look hopeful at all. I have more confidence in the Captain America movie. Hopefully Kenneth Branagh knows what he's doing.

Guy Pearce Was Almost in "Batman Begins"

Fans have been expecting Guy Pearce (Memento) to appear in one of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, but it has yet to happen. According to the actor, Nolan actually approached him to play a role in "Batman Begins."

"Chris Nolan flew me to London to talk about one of the other roles in ['Batman Begins']," he said. "It was Liam Neeson's role. And there was talk about having the mentor be the same age as Christian Bale, rather than be an older mentor. But maybe they tossed the idea around and other people went, 'No, that's not gonna work.'"

Pearce went on to say that he was also offered the chance to play the lead in the 2003 "Daredevil" movie, which Ben Affleck ended up starring in.

"I was offered the first 'Daredevil,' yeah," he explained, adding that he eventually turned down the role. "It wasn't really my — I mean, I wasn't really sort of — I don't know. Comic-strip stuff isn't really my cup of tea."

It's probably been for the best (I've certainly gotnothing against him though) :)
