I was trying to think what occasion such a dress would normally be used for. A party or one of a set of bridesmaids dresses. No bridesmaid fixation. Yet.

Someone I know was best man at a friend’s wedding. When he first met the Matron of Honour, the first thing he said to her was “aren’t I meant to get a shag out of you?”. She refused to speak to him from that time on.

Ive done that sort of approach before (though not at a wedding). Went up to a girl and said "so a shags out of the question then?". After a moments silence there was a burst of laughter and later on that evening much fun was had and for a few months
