Anyone live near it? With the blistering hot sunny weather due to arrive, I thought maybe a few of us could meet up for an ice-cream I live as far from the sea as is possible in England, so I thought I'd see if anyone more coastal was feeling sociable. Maybe one weekend in June? Primary requirements: 1. Rock pools with crabs and shrimp and other crustacean life forms 2. Caves 3. Sand and pebbles and shells and things 4. Ice cream Not so good: 1. Sewage 2. Condoms, broken glass, oil slicks 3. Dead sheep 4. Man eating sharks or toxic jellyfish I'll be driving from Northampton in my shiny new second hand car, so could give a lift to people nearby. Anyone fancy a paddle?

You're 20 miles from my granny, so that would work for me by myself. Also, I'd drive past Jon and Prof on the way which might be good. It's a very very long trip though. Maybe if someone can put up a bunch of strangers for a night it would work out great? Or maybe if there's a cheap hostel close by? Hmm. Also just realised I only have room for 4 passengers, and the three in the back need to be very friendly Still, it's totally doable. Google says it should take me 6 hours each way.

KW lives in my village and I expect he'd come along for the ride. It's then a fight for the back seats, but I drive past 5 other forumites I know of. Maybe I could put Redeyes on the roof rack and Zippy in the boot; then if Jon and Prof+1 fancied the back seats there'd be... *counts on fingures* Ten of us! Sounds like a party to me :edit: - just saw your post there Prof. Looks like we might get this trip in before the official x404 meetup Any dates people can't make? Annoyingly, this coming hot sunny weekend is too soon for me because I don't get the car until Monday. The weekend after doesn't look so sunny, but it says 17C and fair. Weekend after that looks OK too.

Cool, was hoping before that anyway. Any ideas where to meet? Needs to have cheap parking nearby and be walking distance to the beach. I'd probably get there about 3pm because of the journey and not being good at early starts. If the travellers can find somewhere cheap to sleep, then maybe we could end the day with a nice meal, so any ideas for that would be good too? Often less than half the people turn up to these things, so I guess it could be anywhere from 5 to 15 people. It would need to be reasonably priced, and big enough to fit a group. Any local specials we should know about?

That would actually be half the distance for me. Anyone else over there? No reason we couldn't have multiple meetups - I think John and a few others are in the general zone, so it could work too. I'm unsure about your definition of "class" though. What's fun there?

Yeowch, 6 hours drive to the beach?
Time was I could see the beach from my bedroom, and it would take 30 seconds running merrily to be in the water from my front door.
Sunny sunny Brighton eh?
Unfortunately i'm a northern monkey now and stuck up in stinky Leeds and the chances of me being able to make it to a beach trip are slim! If y'all decide to go somewhere surfy i'll try my hardest to pop down with a surf board and wetsuit =) (Got a couple of spare wetsuits too if anyone wants to join!)

Plenty of streets with unrestricted parking, if not the council car park in Wheal Leisure is cheap enough. You can park right by the beach, though that will set you back £3.50 for the day (flat-rate). Well you've got some B&Bs, or there's the two holiday camps (Haven on Budnick Hill, or Liskey Hill Caravan Park), or there are a few hotels (Ponsmere, Perranporth Hotel, Tide's Reach etc). You'll have to do interwebs to find prices, unfortunately I'm stuck in Cardiff until next week.
