^ They're all the wrong sizes?
Royal Mail is on the list today. I ordered a small book on Jan 6 from Amazon. It was dispatched the next day. I'm still waiting for it. Meanwhile, I've ordered several items from the same place this past week, and they've all arrived.
Come Monday, I think Royal Snail will be suffering from the sharp edge of my temper.

20 minutes before my brother and wife arrive on a last minute drop-in and totally disrupt my afternoon, my mum's up and down like a donkey's back leg and Mrs. B has decided that now is the perfect time to try and book a double room for a wedding in Brandenburg. FAIL!

Just had an email round from the local Health & Safety bod, reminding us to ensure that all filing cabinets have an 'ant tilt' mechanism.

Any fatalities from filing cabinets recently then? I thought that they all had them. Mine do. You can only open one draw at a time.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, the Royal Mail have done a set of Gerry Anderson stamps. While not generally into philately, I decided to order a first day cover set. Which, for those that don't know, is essentially an envelope with the stamps stuck to it and a special frank over them. The envelope has your name & address on it.
they arrived this morning. The Royal Mail spelled my name wrong.
The real amazing thing about this is : I ordered them via credit card. That means I must have entered my name to buy them and, I think I can confirm, I know how to spell my own name. In fact I would have had to give the right name for the credit card transaction to process correctly, as far as I know. This leads me to deduce that The Royal Mail still process and send out first day covers by hand. Somebody has to transcribe the name and address from the order onto the envelope. And in doing so, they got my name wrong.
Extraordinary.

Government's new crime map website falls over at launch... Millions jam street-level crime map websiteGovernment + Website-based project. What could possibly go wrong...go wrong...go wrong.... After being promoted on both BBC News and various websites, you'd think they would have anticipated the demand at launch. Tried it earlier, just got a blank page, it briefly worked for about 5 minutes then went down altogether! A case of PR win, or technical fail?
