I never understdand that, I've had it in places I've worked too. Birthday boy/girl buys lunch/treats.

Pourquoi?

It's a very German way of doing it - might be crossing over into our culture. I do hope not though - it's properly annoying.

I have a few Indian mates and it's part of Indian culture too, not just Germanic.

That Duffy looks a bit like a blonde Angie Jolie in some photos - Duffy should still be sent to Room 101 though :(

I nominate this to be the new definition in the OED for the word 'picky'.

Jolie's got a lot more experience about how to 'photograph well', which helps her a lot. I've seen photos of Duffy where she looks stunning but equally I've seen a few where she looks like she's just got up and has a serious hangover. You almost never see a photo of Jolie where she's looking out of sorts. It's a thing.. you know the classic old hollywood definition of 'glamour' - as oppose to the modern 'wearing hardly any clothes' definition? That's the thing - Duffy is pretty, Jolie is glamourous in the way say Audrey Hepburn was.

In the case of Angelina looking "a little worse for wear", i would like to present Exhibits A and B:

Angelina without makeup in her formative "Hackers" years:
Image !

and nowadays, fully made up, looking a little older, a little more tired etc, almost definition of a little worse for wear, and in no way suggesting that she's not still incredibley fit :p.:

She looks like she's been partying for 48 hours without sleep and then attended a photoshoot.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I think comparing photos of anyone with photos of themselves from 20 years ago is going to be pretty unflattering in the main. I look better than I did 10 years ago but not 20. Basically it's taken me the last 10 years to repair all the damage I did in the previous 10 .

Yes but she looks a lot better than many other 35 year old women. It is all relative.

Southall gasometer is painted as it is (see below) because a 707 accidentally landed at RAF Northolts when looking for Runway 2 or 3 at LHR . Apparently there's a gasometer there that simply says "NO".

The Bugatti Veyron engine will put out 3000bhp on the dyno. It set light to the testing facilities roof top ventilation system the first time it was tested.
It's body (front subframe, carbon middle section and rear subframe) is held together with 14 bolts.

Saw a Veyron in the metal today, seemed a bit overkill for navigating the dual carriageway outside The Reebok.
