He's from Nigeria and if that's what he wants to we ain't complaining besides he didn't tell any of us until this morning or I would've brought in cake!

It's a very German way of doing it - might be crossing over into our culture. I do hope not though - it's properly annoying.

I'm familiar with bringing in cakes, but never buying lunch. I've never been at work on my birthday anyway.
