No, he can't.
There are certain images which are not appropriate to have as avatars, just as there's rules for posting in the content of threads/messages.

The problem is not so much the symbol you chose, but the rendering of it. I think the black symbol on a white disk on a red ground was probably the wrong variant to pick.

not a freddy kruegr fan then?

White black and red feature very prominently in art from Russia and Germany during and after WWI. Some referred to them as “the colours of life”.

Provocation of serious discussion about the origins of symbols or Zionism or fascism or hinduism or whatever - that's cool. Way cool in fact. But bashing the guy coz he's clearly got social and communicational problems is out of order IMHO.

I was curious about it. I also felt that while we know Bratty, others who have not been here before may not, and may misinterpret it. There are some very, very sensitive people out there, and such symbols can cause immediate offence.

Communication problems aside, it did seem odd that he’d chosen that particular symbol, though. Look what happens when others choose to associate themselves with the symbol:

I don't see avatars mentioned in the rules, but no doubt it comes under the "we can enforce whatever we want, when we want, coz we can" type clause.

My point stands.

Fair enough. Like I said, no problem to have a discussion.

Again, no problem with that. My problem is with the responses that your interest/curiosity generated.

Yup the Soviet Constructivists and the Bauhaus movement in Germany were very fond of them.

Hitler wasn't fond of the Bauhaus movement though, probably because they were successful artists which he had aspired to be at one time.

Are you gonna post a list of what's allowed and what IS NOT then?

Or do you just arbitrarily decide?

I'd imagine they can, but I think people are referring to the "test" avatar, (a swastika) that he "accidentally" put up for, (in bratty's words) "like a minute" and not the star of David which he... hey! it's just occured to me... his name is David as well!

That's all right then... ;) :P

You really need a list of what should and should not be used/posted here? You seemingly have a bee in your bonnet about people picking on bratty, I hope you don't think this is part of that, because it's not.
Aside from the forum owner, I'd say we are all subject to the same rules on content for these fora.
To answer your question, no, I'm not going to post a list of what is or is not allowed.
We have a community responsibility here, and if the community speaks out against content posted then action will be taken - that doesn't mean an outright ban or content removal, y'know the mods and admins here actually talk about things before taking serious action.
This is not persecution that's happening here.

I did wonder what all the swastika talk was and thought something like that had happened
