Have you seen this film? It's called Tetsuo: The Iron Man and ticks all the right boxes. It is low-budget, weird, somewhat grainy, violent and from Japan....what more could you want? Both this film and its sequel/remake Tetsuo 2: Bodyhammer have great soundtracks too.

Yes, such an awesome film. I especially like the part where she gets 'impaled' on him. You seem to know your stuff about asian cinema Paul.

Well, I like Asian Horror films such as The Eye, The Grudge, etc as well as Hong Kong Gangster films, etc. They are often less predictable than U.S movies (and sometimes totally crazy) and have to use storytelling instead of relying on massive FX budgets. Might go for this double bill next:

I saw Tetsuo on Channel 4 many years ago. I found it quite hard work watching it, but at the time I think my brain was de-compiling itself. It is one of those films whose effects are o poorly done, that they are more terrifying as a result. I am sure it could be done far more slickly these days, and it would be gross, but the feelings that it would provoke would not be the same.

Thank you for ruining any kind of enjoymenet I would have gained from watching one of my favourite directors by discussing the plot in a detail I would never have sought out prior. EDITOld Boy > Visitor Q > Happiness > Tetsuo > Ichi > Machine Girl > Tokyo Gore Police > Yokai War....

That's one of my all-time favourite films. I had it on VHS, and it's one of the few I did a digital copy of. Classic.
