That an old school friend is to become a dad and get married soon... what is the score with people feeling they have to get married just cos a kid's on the way?

They may have been thinking about marriage anyway, and it makes the birth certificate simpler if you do it before she pops.

There's nothing wrong with getting married, even if it does seem "out of fashion" to many in Britain these days. A lot of places, it would be almost unthinkable to give birth to a bastard.

Probably related to people expecting you to have kids as soon as you get married.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

In Starcraft 2 you can cycle through the leader of a group of units to use their special abilities without having to select them individually.

In the past week I've learnt to drive a tractor and trailer. Reversing a trailer is quite amusing, especially with a quarter million dollar boat on the back and an audience.

I also learnt yesterday that when your bank card doesn't swipe properly, then it often works if you put it in a plastic bag and try again. Strange but true. 8-)

I found out about a program called F.lux that alters the brightness of the screen depending on time of day and type of lights used. Very good.

These two weren't thinking about marriage, I can assure you that ;)

It seems to me a lot of people get married to please other people, even if they don't realise it themselves :(

What makes me laugh is when people say marriage is too much of a commitment but will have children with their partner. Sorry but children ARE a lifetime commitment. You can get a divorce but you can't change the father of your children.

  • Mrs. B. has no idea why, when we only have a 576kbps connection, her using YouTube / Internet Radio etc. slows everyone else's internet to a crawl.
  • The word "Nice" comes from the Old French "nische" meaning "Simple, foolish, ignorant".

I was always taught in school to never use "nice" in any essays/stories/etc... that I was writing.

I was always told to look up different adjectives and use them instead.
