One household over here has complained about the noise of morning deliveries to the local Asda, you know, the deliveries with the fresh bread and milk on them amongst other things. The same deliveries and store that household probably makes use of... Now nearly all the hours have changed for the staff, and the food gets put out on the shelves later on in the morning, suiting no one. Some people will complain just because they can, but being an absolute d1ckhead helps too I'm sure

E-mails of support?
Er, this ban was imposed by the school. The local authority had nothing to do with it.

What's wrong with that? TBH I had a Kingsmill factory a couple of miles away from my house in Cardiff. You could hear the fleet of lorries thundering past the house towards the motorway between 3-5am; dozens of vehicles per hour. Now it didn't bother me because I was awake anyway, but I could understand if people who had to be up at 5/6/7 would complain. The law takes a dim view of noise between midnight and 7am as it is, without even having to resort to legislation covering excessive noise.

One household has suddenly decided they don't like the noise* and the entire local community, staff and shoppers, have to change? Doesn't seem right to me * Asda has had it's deliveries arrive like this for years, and it seems to be the noise of unloading that's suddenly bothering these people (and this is on a flightpath!). I seriously doubt Asda will want to have so many of it's staff stacking shelves while customers are running around at Xmas, for example...

What time of the morning are we talking here? And yes, all it takes is one complaint (which obviously the local authority must agree is valid). TBH in this case I expect the authority engaged with ASDA, who agreed to alter the times.

I'd need to ask about the time, and I'm not entirely certain about the council situation, but I still wonder how it can be sensibly justified either way, short of Asda recreating Stomp in the mornings....

Yes but Asda and all the other supermarkets deliver at night because it is quicker and they need to restock shelves. If they had to do it during the day then the roads would be more congested because all the 40 ton artics would be having to wait till daybreak and they would inevitably get caught up in a traffic jam. What ever happened the supermarkets would have to put prices up.
