So kids in school are making too much of a noise, neighbours complain, and as a result, breaks are cancelled. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-yo ... e-11340226

It is not as of they are making noise all day. There are specific times and they can be worked around.

If you don't like the sound of kids running around don't buy a house near a school

There are times...
If I was the local council, I'd say 'OK', do what they asked and then schedule 'essential roadworks' outside their house for about six months.

What kind of miserable old [LIFTED] live next to the school so bitter and twisted that they would get kids playtime banned.

I chose to live right next to a school. I can hear the kids playing, especially when it's rugby or such. It's never bothered me in the slightest.
I happen to work right next to a school. The kids playing is a lot less noise than the trucks driving up the road, and it's only for a short time each day.
To be honest, I quite like the sound of kids playing. It sounds like fun. Fun is good.

Maybe the council should retaliate with a 60 year ban on any child at that home being eligible for the local school. That will immediately hit the home owner with a huge loss of value for the home. Many homes increase in value if near a good school. If the home is useless for getting a placement to that school then it instantly loses a large value.

I don't think it's unreasonable for the school to take measures to reduce the noise, such as the fence they've put up.
Let's also not forget that this action has been taken by the school - the local authority has yet to act on any of the complaints received.

Don't forget, there will be some kids rejoicing that they don't have to go out. I would have been one of them.

Same here. They had a struggle to get me out of the library when I was at school.

I walked past a school at break time recently for the first time the other day and couldn't believe the noise. That said it's not offensive and as has been said, why buy a house near a school if it will bother you.

Also, why don't they get jobs? Then they'll be at work when it's noisy.
