The general consensus in the MacUser forum is that the Meeting Place over there should be cleared out. Which is cool, I can do that with very little effort, but if there's any forum member here that would like old threads copied here for posterity can you post a link to them in this thread please?
It's only the OP that I'll be copying, not all the responses - there's no easy way that I know of to do that.

First on my list of ones to copy over are the old photography competition threads.

Isn't the MP now seperate and duplicated across MU & PCPro?

In which case, couldn't any old threads be dug up from PCPro when necessary, leaving you clear to delete the MUMP?

Just a thought - I could be wrong on this...

Nope, you're quite correct, but there's ex MacUser peeps in here that wouldn't go near the other portals. I'm just giving those a chance to raise their voice before there's nothing left of the MU Meeting Place, as well as anyone else that's want any old threads copying over.
Might as well get it done all in one go, no?

Hmmm I'll have a browse of the Earth-That-Was and see what comes to mind.

I had a look yesterday. It's eerily empty now - just a few old die-hards that pop up in the Help and Comments fora. It's like going back to a house you once lived in, only now it's derelict - all the children have gone... :|

the computer shopper and computer buyer sites are in a far worse state
all the sites at Dennis are, or seem to be, going to pot

i would not be surprised to hear in the not too distant future that the whole outfit goes to the wall …

I'm probably going to get shot at dawn for this, but those sites gave us all loads of pleasure over many years ( if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here now ) So I have to say I find it really sad that this has all happened.

I'd like to get hold of several of their senior managers and fillet them with a rusty knife

If all else failed there was plenty of experience in the various forums to sort their problems out for them. I even offered, along with a few others, about 6 months back to help sort the mess out for them.

+1 but what's the point in going through all this again?
I plan on starting the migration of the photo comp. threads this coming weekend, all being good.

The photo threads would be nice to see again, but in terms of overall history I actually think it's better to "fdisk" the entire forum and start again from scratch :)

Remember, I'll only be doing the Meeting Place from the MacUser side of things, I'll not be killing all the posts/threads from all the portals, so like RedEyes said earlier in this thread, there will still be a history to that forum available.

I was gonna suggest the choc polls but unless you save the poll results too, it's pointless.

Feel free to delete all my posts over at that place.
