I don't undertand why anyone kicks up a fuss when organs are removed from dead people.

Well people expect to be asked these days. Also why have a spin doctor, unless you are screwing up on a regular basis, that would also apply to the use of PR agencies. The public will accept an ordinary spokesperson saying that they screwed up and changes are underway. Though pretending it did not happen because of an impending court case, can invariably inflame public opinion against them.

Because unless you have permission it's extremely disrespectful. I certainly wouldn't be happy if someone cut open my child without my express permission.

Someone else's right to life > your happiness/respect

If you think otherwise, your the most selfish prick on the planet.

Personally I would be livid.

Exactly.

As soon as I held my dead dad's cold hand I knew he wasn't there, why on earth do people have a problem with death that they can't see that flesh is just that and that it can be reused? I'm not sure where 'respect' comes into it.

Mind you nobody would have wanted his parts, he wasn't exactly a careful owner :D .

Piss off. No-one cuts open my child without my permission. I'd be more inclined to gut the doctor who did it.

Good god you're inhuman. With out reservation I can truly say you are the most heartless, self-centred [LIFTED] I have ever come across. You think these people do it for [LIFTED] and giggles? You'd genuinely rather see someone die due to you not being consulted? You heartless bastard.

Funny.... I would have thought that as an atheist you would have been able to reason more rationally about an otherwise useless bag of chemicals....

I don't think they should just be able to use whatever bits from dead people they like, as it has other implications in the long term. However more sensible options would be a more comprehensive donor system with more personal information which could be built on with medical records. For example, if someone died from a heart attack and they decided to use their liver, they may be unaware of the fact that same person drank two bottles of scotch a day.

I also for the record don't agree with passing judgement on people with offensive terms when they disagree with you...but I must be getting old.

I'm also a libertarian, and believe no-one has the right to decide that they have the right to someone else's organs without that person's (or the family's) permission.

Apparently one of us has respect for the wishes of those who have passed away. Others, namely you, do not. It's incomprehensible to me that you could happily gut someone for your own benefit, knowing full well that that person never gave such permission. Which one of us is heartless?

Just so you know, I'm actually on the organ donation register, but I don't believe in gutting people without their prior permission.

Start taking people's organs when they are dead without any prior from family or the individual concerned and watch then start taking them off you when you are alive. Next stop, Soylent Green, it's people you know.

Let me put it simply. Under my system, more people live, under yours, more die. That is in no way, shape or form cold, heartless or anything else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not for random harvesting organs without consent, or any kind of ease in the system, but given any situation where there is a dead child, no contactable guardian, and another child in need of an organ that is matched, it's a no brainer. If you think one person's control is more important than someone else's life, good luck to you. I just hope if it's ever your children in need of that kind of attention that they can get it, because there's no reason they should suffer due to opinions like yours.

That's the thing you're not gutting 'someone', when they're gone they're gone, there is no 'someone' left.
