LED GU10 downlight bulbs are pants. They give off a blue white light instead of a warm yellow white and cost a fortune for anything anywhere near as powerful as the halogen ones they replace.

But on the other hand, every halogen GU10 downlight bulb I've ever bought (whether it be Phillips, General Electric, Tescos) has never provided more than 8 months of said warm yellow light before expiring  I'd quite happily put up with a different shade of white for something that (AFAIK) should last 15+ years.

It's the price and brightness that are the biggest issues. The cheaper lower wattage ones (1-3W) just aren't bright enough, the ones that are bright (5W) are close to £20 each.

Windows ME and Windows Vista, yes. Windows 7, XP, 2000, NT4 and 98 are/were okay.

I disagree with '98. It was basically '95 with the awful IE4 desktop enhancements and a load of other things that made it prettier but less efficient. '98 led the way for Miserable Edition...

'95 without IE4 was neither stable nor secure, but it was incredibly lean and fast compared to '98. Seriously, you could run Office on Win '95 in 2MB (not GB) on a 16MHz (not GHz) processor and it would be faster than the latest versions on the latest hardware.

So that's a 1000x increase in processing power, and most people would think the old one was faster...

I like wires. At least you can plug things in to your keyboard to charge. I have my phone charging off my keyboard now.

Agree about flash.

As for wifi clashing with microwaves is my biggest problem. I lose the signal to my speakers when ever my neighbours or I use the microwave.

I'd happily re-buy most of the wired kit I own if it was wireless (power being the obvious exception, and we're getting there I believe) - I'm utterly sick of charging cables, headphone wires, ethernet cables, scart leads, HDMI... and that's before you have to find a trailing socket for the devices. Guess what? More fcuking wires that look and behave like something from a horror film :x

You like wires, but have wireless speakers?? They're fully, fully gay. Wires ftw in almost every context. If someone can demonstrate to me ANY circumstance where wireless works at least AS WELL as wires - I'm listening. But unless I've missed something, such a thing does not yet exist.

+1 to that. '98/ME were the most unstable versions of any operating systems that I've so far used.

I have all my computers connected via ethernet to my gigabit switch. This is the fastest most secure method of swapping data via them and the internet.

I also have 6 of these

around the house so that I can listen to music films and podcasts around the house. Wireless is the easiest way of connecting them all together. It works well except for when there are microwaves running.

Congrats. Makes sense and I'd like to see somebody do better with wireless any time soon.
As for your speakers, were you prepared to put up with wires, you could do vastly better for sound and in some cases, flexibility.

It would have been dangerous as there would be cables everywhere. They are in all the big rooms and on both floors. They are also not easy to cable up with their locations. Also they are only playing my iTunes folders as I have ripped everything to that. So would I have gained much with wires over wireless? Probably not.

A wired setup at the same price, even with crappy iTunes stuff will blow those away. They're a Mac lifestyle item and not designed to sound good, but look good.

They sound fine. I am not so worried about audio perfection. Yes they do look good, in fact a number of my friends have them plugged in directly all after seeing mine.

Never said they didn't. In fact "fine" is what I'd expect.

My point was, wired would sound better. Simple.
