Sat outside with a cold beer, had lunch in the garden under an umbrella. Not a cloud in the sky as far as I can see, and it's glorious. Should be a good summer. :D
Only downside so far is that we're having the boiler replaced and don't have any running water at the moment.

I'm getting more tolerant of the heat these days, but I fully understand there are people who can't be doing with it (though I think the humidity is the real problem for many).

The office is current;y rather toasty, although the 5 machines on my desk may be contributing to that.

I have yet to be stopped by the neighbours mowing the lawn at 4 am or something just as crazy.

LOL, this kind of thing is a problem.

I have an electric mower and I'm at work from 8am until 6pm weekdays. This dictates I can only cut the grass when it is not raining and when I'm not at work. I also generally prefer not to cut the grass in the dark, but I could easily fit head lights.

Slightly off topic, I personally hate being woken up at 7am by people doing noisy jobs and a friend of mine who works late hours in a pub once suggested that there is nothing wrong with cutting the lawn at 4am. If neighbours can make noise in the mornings and wake me up, then what's the difference?

Yes but my mower is a push mower so little noise above the background traffic. Plus at 4 am in the summer it is just getting light.

I think this is the nicest (hottest/sunniest) weather I have been in since I went travelling to Thailand (and other places) in 2007.

:D

I never said that working in it was great. (Although for me, it's mostly not a problem due to my job and location). I sympathise with people who feel fed up during the day. What I was saying, is that if you use your days off/evenings to the max, it more than makes up for the work day problems. So it's not each to their own, it's people not making the most of the benefits, alongside enduring the negatives.

But if you're the kind of person who's totally incapacitated by the heat, then you can't make the most of your days off, unless "making the most of" includes sitting inside the house in no clothes with a fan blowing directly at you. Evenings are different, although if you work late and have worked hard during a hot day then I can imagine that all you'd want to do in the evenings is sit in a cool bath.

My only point was that not everyone enjoys hot weather, and aren't able to make the most of it.

Ok fair enough. It seemed to me that a lot of people were moaning about it, but nobody had bothered to go outside and enjoy it. If you're incapacitated by the heat you can still sit quietly outside and just chill surely?

Well clearly, Al and I are the only ones loving it. The rest of you get your cloud back tomorrow and a drop in temperatures. Good for you.

For me the combination of heat and humidity is the problem.
However, my main problem is that I appear to be part vampire in that I basically catch fire in direct sunlight. Meh, it's no fun at all being able to get sunburn at 9 in the morning while wearing sun screen. (if I'm not careful I can be looking like that in less than 15 minutes during the summer).

My favourite times of year are early spring and autumn when it still sunny but the temperature has dropped to a more pleasant 20 C or so.
Still each to their own. I'm much more of a winter person than a summer one.
