Yes the Treaty of Versailles was a disaster but you are ignoring the german aggression.

No I'm not.

I'm saying that the German aggression occurred as a direct result of the British, American and French aggression when they conjured up a treaty in closed session and then forced the Germans to sign it.

While the war is very questionable the lives of those sent following orders is not.

I'm not questioning the value of those lives lost.

I'm questioning the morality of building monuments to the past whilst the living are dying of avoidable causes.

Yes but has been mentioned elsewhere no government money is involved, it is a museum that are building this.

I'm not arguing over whether the country can afford it or not.

I'm arguing over whether anyone should afford it or not.

I remember them saving and asking for donations, when I first went to Hendon, for the current Battle of Britain exhibit. I think I first went there, when I was about 7 or so. I was over 16 by the time they had saved enough money and built the BoB exhibit, over 20 years later and they are ready to upgrade it.

Rusty: The UK government might not be able to afford to build such a structure, but the museum is a privately run business. Unless the government confiscates all money from all private individuals and businesses, then they won't be able to use that money for feeding the homeless anyway.

The pilots can lay happy in their graves, in the knowledge that they fought for a museum? No. They can lay happy in their graves, knowing they managed to save the country from the National Socialist tyranny and gave it the freedom for private individuals to be able to honour them in the best way they see fit...

I've never argued the opposite

I'm arguing over the morality of the new museum; I never mentioned the legality

Again I'm not arguing that Nazism shouldn't have been defeated or that the lives lost aren't worth remembering.

I'm arguing that when good money can be thrown away on a back-patting exercise at the same time as those that are living are in dire need of help, we weren't saved from tyranny at all - we simply ended up with a National Capitalist tyranny instead.

Frankly, I think it looks ugly as hell. To hell with the money aspect - which quite frankly is preposterous - you'd've thought for £80m they could have done something a bit more visually appealing than a boil on my arse.

Nice to see some thought was put into it.
