Just got back from training and I think I've pulled a muscle in my lower stomach.
It's on the right hand side and I think it's the right hand side of the lowest pair of abs if that makes sense.
It really hurts when I put any strain on it at all. One of the trainers said it could just be a strain but he said to get it checked out at the doctor's.
  What do you reckon?

I’d listen to your trainer. Get it checked.

I'd say it's worth getting it checked in the morning, if you're still in pain.

See what it's like in the morning, then go to the Drs' and get an appointment (but that'll be another few days if you've my luck /rant). Should be ok, but never hurts to be sure.

There's also a chance it's hernia related rather than just a strained muscle so definitely get to your GP as soon as possible.

If it's muscular, a nice warm bath can actually make things worse. I forget the physiology of it, but Chris Evans had an expert on training/muscles and/or all sorts of related stuff on his radio show and I remember that part, but I think that it's only in the earlier stages.
