Programming exam for a job at 1pm.... confirmed earlier in the week (multiple times) after they never sent the first one

You mean they didn't put it in your contract to start off with? That strikes me as being insanely short sighted.

In which case mention that some of these clients would be very useful to me in move or start up situation, and that it is worth more than £1000. They do not know that you are bluffing.
