heteronyms are both heterophon and homographs :)
heterophone mean "sounds different" when homograph means "same writing" lol

Yes, I got that from your and Edd's post. The bloke I linked to seems to think that all true homographs must also be heterophonic, which is why I posted the link. I suspect he's being esoteric though:

some self-declared trained linguistic scholar I found on a free homepage wrote:
Not everybody uses this set of definitions, though they would be accepted by the majority of trained linguistic scholars. In wider usage (reflected in many dictionaries) the term homograph includes what I have here called homonyms and polysemes, i.e. words of different meaning but the same spelling and pronunciation, such as right and fly. For those people the term for what I am calling homographs is heteronyms, a term not much used by professional linguists.

Slash On New My Generation Mix

Quote:
Slash is featured on a new mix of The Who’s classic 1965 anthem My Generation.

The song has been remixed by will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and will be released via iTunes on February 8, to raise money for Haiti relief work.

“It’s The Who, their song, and then I altered the lyric to fit my generation now and then have Slash on it,” will.i.am explained, somewhat nonsensically, to Billboard.com.

“It was awesome. I loved that song way before this even came up, and talking to Pete Townshend on the phone is like… ‘What?! I’m talking to Pete Townshend on the phone?!’

“That was awesome, being able to just hear their advice and everything. Those guys are just awesome.”

Let’s hope will.i.am’s version of My Generation is equally… er… awesome.

Slash doesn't half surround himself with some craphats these days, and letting will.i.am near the above song is unlikely to end well for music lovers

Looks like I'm going to need to see a dentist for the first time in 3 or 4 years soon. One of my teeth has run out of space and been forced to grow inwards which is playing hell with the relevant gum :(
