YES!

I tend to have an adverse reaction to caravans and for some reason my hand hits the horn to let them know they shouldn't be on the road.

I’ve seen a few wobbly caravans on the road. I try to get past them as quickly as I can.

And what I have close to hand.

Oh and that goes for Micra drivers as well.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

An important part of that story was how all the drivers who were actually paying attention could see the accident waiting to happen, and took pains to avoid being a part of it. I've spent a lot of time driving and seen a lot of stupidity, and a few things I wish I could unsee.

Accidents involving the unforseable are very rare. It most often comes down to lack of attention, or stupid impatience. When you're driving, you shouldn't be doing anything else. You should never be going so fast that your braking distance is further than you can see. Don't overtake if you don't know it's safe. Keep your eyes on the damned road and don't be reckless; it's not too much to ask, surely?!

It only takes a quarter of a second to commit murder by reckless driving. Apparently, about 3000 people a year are killed on our roads. That's on average over 8 per day, which is better than it was or in many other countries:

I saw a Micra today nearly caused an accident. The girl driving was so damned hot everyone was looking

Words of wisdom.

Hey??

That's an odd statement, even by your standards!

I've seen a few accidents and been in a couple. Ironically, the only time I've been hurt in a car accident, I was a pedestrian. Anyway, the omst memorable one in a 'not just crumpled cars' kind of way is this..

Early one weekend morning back in the late 80's I was driving to work (as I worked Saturdays). It was midwinter and there was snow and ice, conditions were very iffy. However there were few cars on the road so I'd decided to give it a go. On a 40MPH road along which the traffic was all doing about 25, a car about 100 yards in front must have hit a bit of ice or something and basically completely lost traction and control. It did a complete 180 spin and in the process swept across the front of an old, 1970's era mini coming the other way. Caught it just about the front corner and knocked the engine clean out. I mean, in one piece. The whole engine block came out and landed on the pavement on the opposite side of the street. The bonnet flew into a field beyond the pavement. The woman who was driving the mini got out, was perfectly fine as far as I can see, and just stares at what's left of the front of her car - which wasn't much.

At that point I carefully park my car, walk home and phone my boss to say i wasn't coming in that day.

Never seen anything like it. Previously, I would actually have said there was no way it was physically possible, that the engine would be too enclosed and too secured within the car for it to happen. But I saw it, right in front of me. I've been rather paranoid about driving on ice ever since.
