Yes we are screwed no matter who wins, but the Tories will make things worse. They will have to make serious numbers redundant to get anywhere near balance departmental books. Much of the education budget is wages, and that applies to many segments of the government. Wage freezes will be essential and higher taxes essential. The public need to decide whether they want taxes or NHS. Maybe this time the Tories can dismantle it. One Bank of England advisor has stated that the Tories will add another several hundred thousand to unemployment figures on top of what is expected already.

Do you want to see what happens when we don't balance the books? We've been there once before, HMG had to go begging cap-in-hand to the IMF for more money. It's not pretty.

Labour have all but bankrupted the Country (again), they have borrowed against the future. Heavily. Of course it's going to be painful shovelling through our mountain of debt. :?

We're probably suffering less or similar national debt than we came into this recession with 48% of gdp national debt which is low for a first world country. Now we have a heavy debt burden but not to the point of getting the IMF involved, this is not a winter of discontent.

Situation:
High national debt, will require heavy cuts, will see a decrease in standards of public service of which we are used to and we might finaly lose the useless masses of mangement which irritate me so much as an a level student.
