To be accurate and excessively nerdy Lancasters were used for low-level bombing e.g. Dambuster, April '42 MAN diesel engine factory and Feb '44 Gnome-Rhone factory raids.
Incidentally whilst the
Tallboy bomb weighed 12,000lb the
Grand Slam bomb weighed even more at 22,000lbs and the American post WWII
T-12 Cloudmaker demolition bomb weighed 43,600 lb (20,000 kg). Now that's a big bomb! No disrespect intended to the poor people who died.
