Hello!
A client of ours is using Windows XP (don't know the SP, but I assume it's up to snuff), and wants to make a PDF from a Word doc.
Is there a way to do that with the OS as it is? Or is there a recommended free software we can tell him about?
Cheers

Open Office does it very nicely, but it's a bit of a sledge hammer if you already have office.
Saspro's suggestion is probably the best. It's what I used to use. It installs as a "printer" so you can create a pdf from any application.

Thanks chaps.
I'll send that link over to the client.
Cheers!

If they're on Office 2007 then you can download an update to "Save as PDF". I've also had some joy with CutePDF.

Another nod for PDFCreator. A cracking bit of software that I install on pretty much everything I build... It's a lot quicker and lighter than OO if all you're after is a PDF.

Again, thanks folks. The client downloaded and was using PrimoPDF within minutes. The other options will be retained for future use, as there's bound to be another numpty client that needs hand-holding through the simple stuff.

It's about time MS was "inspired" by OSX and put into Windows natively (along with XPS if they really wanted).

See, I always thought they had. At least I thought it might be in Vista: I'm sure I read it or heard it somewhere.
When we fired up our creaky XP box, PDF was conspicuous by its absence.

I seem to recall they were going to do it with Office 2007 but Adobe threw a bit of a hissy fit and started talking about competition complaints... Of course I may be making all that up and thinking of something else...
