But hang on... I've just logged in as HeatherKay and my old password in both MU and PCP forums. I don't understand this "someone else can get your username" thing.

I tried using my email and it didn't let me in. Tried my username and it worked.

First bug!
The Forum tree at the top isn't right.
If you enter the Meeting Place and then go into a thread the only place the Forum Tree shows is the root layer (i.e. Forums).

I'm really confused - it knew who I was, and after giving it my email address n password, I got those 2 PM's I'd been sent before the switch off. I've even started a thread on MU. I can't see what else I need to do. Yes, I was listening to all the instruction about logging in with email addresses and so forth, which I did. Although, as I say, hitting the logout button seems to make no difference.

Meh, the whole thing is FUBAR.
I think your old Screen names have been transferred as email address or something?!
If I click on the Edit Profile thing and log in I can use my new email address to log in as Fogmeister or my old username (ojfoggin) to log in as ojfoggin.
I'm not sure what they've done to it.
I don't think they've set it up like they think they have.
If I log in as fogmeister then click log out it still thinks I'm logged in as ojfoggin.
If I click log out again then nothing happens.
Very borked.

I reckon they just powered it all down a couple of weeks back, let Hammy have his freedom, hired in some new Eastern European hamsters and plugged it all back in.
No change apart from the MU/PCP Meeting Place and Comments split.
Why they didn't just purge the MP and Comments sections for each magazine so we get a clean start is anyone's guess. There's a gazillion pages of cruft of no interest to the old Mac users, so they won't bother coming into the MP now, even though they're the only ones who can on their side of the fence.
What an unholy mess.
I think I'm staying here. I'll check back a few times to see if anything's improved, though.

Yip, where it asks for your email address, it actually wants your user name And is it just me, or are the boards and text really tiny? Maybe I'm too used to this place now...

what have they managed to do with the site over at Dennis when it was closed for a week for the life of me it seems that they had week off and nothing else
i auto logged on as normal both for the PCpro and MacUser sites
the threads in the comments forum have been split but are still bonked ie. [/strongandanyothercrapstillvisable] in the thread opening
the meeting place is still assessable from and shared between the MU and PC side edit. just done a test and they are separated so each forum has a meeting place that no other forum can meet in …
the spammers are still spamming so much for increased security with the new log on
so what have they done in a week ? all they have succeeded in doing is looking very PCpro'ish …

Not a lot it seems. As you say, I can still log in as normal and indeed still seem to be able to see new posts made by MU users, despite logging in from the PC Pro side of things. The only thing that seems to have happened is the closure of the CPC forums, which seems to have alienated some CPC users. I've always logged in from the PC Pro side of things, and I really can't see what's supposed to be different!
