FujiFilm 3D Camera:
Press Release: Clicky, Product page: Clicky.

Basically, a point and shoot that takes a stereoscopic image with two lenses.
Where it gets a bit clever is that you can, apparently, set one up on a wide and the other up on a closer shot. You'll also be able to print your 3D stuff as well.
Not my kind of thing, any of it, but anyone else interested?

Lomograph Fisheye 2:
Clicky

A 35mm body with a 10mm fixed focus lens on the front. Focal range from 1 inch to infinity (the board doesn't like the correct symbol). Fixed aperture of f/8 and two shutter speeds 1/100 and B.
And it's about £65, or more if you start adding on the options.
Looks like a bit of fun, and I'm quite tempted.

The Fujifilm 3D camera was slated in one review I read. In a nutshell they said the 2D performance was poor and the problem with the 3D pictures is what to do when they've been snapped. You can buy a special photo frame from Fujifilm, or have them printed on a special printer. Not cheap then. If you look hard enough on the internet you can find homebrew programs to extract the image (into left and right) from the proprietry image format they use and combine it back into a jpeg (something like that.... i've not done loads of research) to display it on your monitor. Fujifilm apparantly dont include any software to do this.

*weeps quietly*

I saw an M8 on a tour of the Barbican I was on earlier this year. Someone else in the group had one. I didn’t see him use it though.

Oh - the $7000 price tag will be for the body ONLY. Lenses will set you back even more.

What do people make of the new Canon 7D.

Engadget

I can't be sure if it's supposed to be better than the 5D or not. The naming convention changes as you move up the range.

300D < 350D
1D > 5D
5D < 7D ?

The naming convention is confusing, to be sure.

It seems to be pitched at the pro/am photographer that likes the idea of the 1.6x crop factor giving longer effective focal length zoom on the EF lenses. It's also aimed at sports and nature photographers with the better burst mode frames per second. The HD video is something that's probably going to be standard across the range soon anyway.

For my money, I'm still after the full frame sensor. While the 7D is a well-placed, well-specced semi-pro camera, I want to move up, not sideways. Just my opinion.

Really? Its still got the 2/3's sensor I have in my 500D. I thought I had read that it had a full frame.

But you are quite correct. Canon Specs

So it is basically a 5D with better processing and a smaller sensor. Sounds like penny pinching, or a forerunner for the 5D MkIII.

The 5D MkIII is at least another year off, perhaps longer. It was only released last year. In fact, it's been some years since the 1Ds MkIII was introduced.

Canon keeps moving the goalposts lower down the range, but seems content with the pro end of their stuff.

And that's a good thing! I want to buy some new glass before new shiny bodies appearing!

Unless Im being a 'tard I thought the naming convention was simple:

1D
v
5D
v
7D
v
50D
v(40D around here)
500D
v(450D around here)
1000D

Edd, you don't need a new body. Is the 5D broken or something?

Why does the 450 come between the 500 and the 1000, when the actual number doesn't.

Once you enter the single digit models the convention is turned on its head an lower numbers are better. Whereas the double and triple digit camera's obey the 'higher number is better' rule.
