I've just aquired a Sky Digibox off my nannan. Only thing is, our Minidish is in use, and IIRC you can't run 2 feeds from a single LNB as it will blow it.

However we have one of the old style bigger Sky dishes on our roof too. Can I run a digibox from that?

Also, just been reading on the intertube and it seems if our old style 'dish has one of the newer "Universal" LNBs (which can pick both digital and analog wavelength/frequencies up) it should work. All I should have to do then is extend the coax down from the airing cupboard (directly above the TV so it contains the aerial wires etc) into my room and it should be job done.

The reason you can't run 2 off one lnb is that the box sends power to the lnb to tune on to the correct multiplex, 2 tuners both send signals and get confused.

Make sure you get proper satellite cable not rf cable.

I've found out our old-style dish has a universal LNB, and have plumbed it all in using some decent-grade coax - 85ohm foil-insulated stuff - but my Sky Digital box won't pick a signal up.

What have I done wrong? :)

I'd say it's either pointing at the wrong place or you've used the wrong cable.
IIRC satellite cable is a different resistance.

Tbh I haven't moved the dish since its Analog days, so it should still be pointing in the right direction. It looks to be anyway, as its relative to the Digital dish that is directly next to it.

I've used Coax that we had left over from when we had Analog sky in the conservatory. It seemed to work fine back then...

Might see a mate who's a TV repair dude and see if he's got a digital LNB laying about, as i'm still not convinced these universal LNBs will do the job.

Best Beloved fitted a universal LNB to an ancient moveable dish stuck on the back of the house. Once we'd realigned the dish properly, it works a treat.

Mmm. High def telly.

Mmmn movable dish.
Get a quad lnb & diseq on there and start tuning in to Europe :D

A mate of mine had a motorised 1.2m beast before the days of even digital, let alone HD. The amount of stuff you could get was mental. Ah memories.

Well, the LNB is a twin universal, so Best Beloved has been tuning into the various Astra satellites, and he's got this gizmo that he's preset to the favourite ones. We've had eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany. Also the various news channels in English from France, Germany, China, Japan and Al Jazeera.

Incidentally, the Astra HD demo channel is amazing. It's a very good showcase for the standards, I have to say.
