It's quite a crap Hollywood summer. I'm likely not going to the cinema until August to see Suicide Squad. Bourne and Star Trek aren't exactly setting my world on fire, and Ghostbusters can fcuk off and die.

I've seen a review which confirms that the lame bits in the Ghostbusters trailers are indeed very lame, but that it has other qualities which redeem it to be a lukewarm summer popcorn flick. Given that I extra hate it when film directors allow the actors to improvise, but then they leave the rubbish jokes in, I won't be watching it, but it's apparently not the travesty that it appeared to be from the first trailer. I like Bourne, fighty fighty muscly magic mind ninja on the run from the Man.

I wanted to take my wife to the cinema last weekend, but quickly gave up, there was nothing interesting being shown.

I won't be seeing Ghostbusters purely as I don't think classics should be remade.
Star Trek looks good though.

For the first time ever at the weekend I was charged 25p for using my credit card in a garage as the total was under a fiver. That's the first time I've ever been hit for that, and I do understand the whole background fees set-up and how it changed a few years ago, but has anyone else here been paying it?

The reason I use my card is I get points on it, and I don't have to run around with loose change/my wallet! It's bad enough having my work pass, phone, and keys...

I usually make sure I buy enough to bump me over the limit. On the odd occasion I need lunch but don't have time to pop to the shops or go home, I'll go to a nearby petrol station and buy it. Sandwich, crisps, chocolate, fizzy drink. Sometimes I need to buy a pack of mints to bump the price to over £5.

I honestly think most of the shops here don't go in for it (it's discretionary, and loaded with merchant rules), I've certainly never seen it on any of my receipts. The people I was with had never experienced it either!

I know we had a 'People you fancy which fills you with self-loathing for doing so' thread a while back but did we ever have a 'People you fancy but you don't have a sodding clue why' thread?

(and No, this isn't about Dr. Hannah Fry. The reasons I fancy her are blatantly obvious).

Not that I recall, but a few older women fall into that category for me. And whoever it is, sometimes you just think they'd be a great fcuk behind closed doors

Not for spending less than a certain amount (not since the 1990's anyway), but there's loads of places that charge a fixed fee for using a credit rather than debit card. Mainly online, but some taxi companies do that too.

Turbo wastegate chatter. Just got a Nissan Juke loaner for the evening. It has the same 1.2L turbo engine as our new Pulsar. I drove it back with the windows down listening to the turbo whistling up and the wastegate chatter when I backed off or changed gear. It reminded me of the first time I drove a Saab 900 Turbo.

You know that feeling you get when you get a refund and think "spending spree!" followed by the deflation when you realise you have extra costs this month that will swallow up more than just the refund?

GMC renewal fee and road tax both due this month.

I know that feeling. Next week I'll be getting an extra good pay slips as my last trip offshore was three, rather than two week.
Only I've instantly got to spend it on car insurance and paying for my offshore survival refresher.
Back to being skint it is for me then :(
