why a reboot now?

Because the laziest/easiest way to make money is to take it from undiscriminating people who just want to see something they already know.

Actually, in this case, it's to keep the rights to the property and stop them reverting to the other studio.

I still don't understand why they have to continually reboot these series. The previous FF only made 2 films and was only a couple of years old, why a reboot now? After 20 or 30 years, I could understand a reboot, but every two or 3 years? You never get anywhere, you just continually retell the same story.

That is a problem, but the comics reboot every year or so now!

The first one was 2005, the Silver Surfer one was 2007. So 10 years ago.

I didn't know that - so it's a lazy, cynical way to keep the rights while you (presumably) desperately try to emulate the success and formula of the Marvel films?

Oh, I forgot, there's a Silver Surfer cartoon from the 90's on Netflix if you didn't know, Mark.

I've searched for this but I can't find it.
Are you sure it is on Netflix UK?

FFS, ALL the old Marvel cartoons are gone and Prime doesn't have it either! Sorry man, assumed Netflix still had it :(

MI: 4 - Tried it again last night. It's not as bad when you know it's almost a comedy going in, but it's still all over the place. It's watchable if you take your brain out, but a lot of it is decidedly naff.

MI: 5 - Best of the bunch, even if that's not saying much. It hasn't got much of the previous efforts' scaling large buildings etc, but what it does is cadge action scenes from other franchises and improve on them. Hell, sometimes it improves on scenes from it's own franchise. Overall it's much more coherent than it's siblings, it's just that like the rest of them you won't remember much of it once you walk out of the cinema.

It's definitely worth catching if you want to kill a few hours, and it has some of the best action and fight scenes this year at the very least.

Forgot, saw the trailers for Hitman and Man from UNCLE at the cinema (I'd previously avoided them). Both have some great action scenes but were giving off some real bland vibes. Bad when it's noticeable in a trailer.

'Fantastic Four' Blame Game: Fox, Director Josh Trank Square Off Over On-Set "Chaos" - Hollywood Reporter - Hollywood Reporter

I'm still reading that. I'm fascinated by just how stupid directors and studios can be at this point in Hollywood history, but FF is something else.
