I was having problems but I found out it was down to an extension. Now that I have deactivated that it is fine.

are you sure it was the extension? This forum has moments of lagging like crazy and it always has. They usually last a few minutes, but come back regularly. It's pot luck basically. Yes it was sucking up all my resources and impacted every site. Just wondering what the cap is?  How many seconds before you hit it? At least it is uncapped.
