It's not as if the majority of previous Bond themes have been by what you'd call 'credible' artists. Although I preferred the fact they didn't bother at all with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Who do you class as credible if it's not Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Carly Simon, Gladys Knight, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney etc etc?

Well that's why I put it in quotes. It's not 'credible' as in 'can sing quite well' (although Carly Simon's no great shakes TBH) it was 'credible' as in 'likely to be beloved of music critics and the music press( such as it still exists)'.

As I say, personally, I see no reason to have a 'theme song' at all. I'm happy with it being entirely orchestral.

I really don't know what you mean. Most of the artists have had careers spanning over 40 years. I'd love to be that uncredible.

Didn't Chris Cornell or whatever he's called do something for Royale? Though maybe it wasn't the actual theme...

Hmm.. was it played over the opening sequence, or as one of those 'as the closing credits roll' jobs?

Edit - yes, it certainly was. Obviously didn't stick in my head at all.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that DC Comics don't know what they're doing in the movie world.

They barely know what they're doing in the comics world :(

Their wariness of ruining Batman all over again must be weighing heavily. For the longest time Nolan was the only 'certainty' they had, nobody wants to be the guy who goes 'Green Lantern' with it.

I'm guessing they don't have much faith in Supes :?
