It's stored somewhere at the moment, so that can be incorporated.

Anyway, once a vote has been registered you can store the fact that they have voted. There's no reason to store who they voted for though, so I don't see a privacy issue.

Yeah I remember that. Just because they made a mess of it can't be done though. It seems pretty simple to me, not sure how they could make such a bad effort.

It wasn't so much incompetence as bare faced cheating. If memory serves, someone like Dick Cheney was on the Board at Diebold at the time.

Of course, people would have to log-in to vote, and it would have to be recorded that a vote has been made from that account, but who has voted for which candidate wouldn't need to be stored, only a total number of votes for each candidate.
It wouldn't need to be, but it probably would get tied up somehow...
