Car makes tend to put adverts up that say stuff like, 'from £14995' with a picture of a model that costs £24995 with a small disclaimer that says '14995 gets you a 1.4 LX, picture shows you a 3.0 Turbo GTX with optional 19" wheels and leather trim for £29995'.
Well they wouldn't say bad things precisely, but they're being a bit too clever with their marketing lingo bordering on the incredulous.
And at the time of viewing they didn't have any i7 processors on their lineup... (Was a couple of months ago i'll admit) so i'm a bit behind on the times.
And M$ don't use the line "Doesn't get Mac viruses" as a selling point
Then whilst looking if they have upgraded the Macbooks since I bought mine or lowered the price, I happened upon the iMac page and found this snippet:
Quote:
For 3D graphics-intensive games or pro applications like Aperture and Motion, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 and ATI Radeon HD 4850 processors deliver the fastest graphics performance yet.
Gracious, Apple expecting their customers to appreciate context. Oh noes!
That is pretty out of order. Stating it's the fastest graphics in an iMac yet would be fine, but that's pretty devious and I'm sure they know it.
I think its pretty much no worse than half the marketing claims you'd hear every ad break on British TV, like for example DFS's perpetual sales or Gilette banging on about how great their new razor is. Tell me, do you think a disposable razor is actually 'the best a man can get'? As oppose to say a Cartier watch or a Ferrari or a snog from Megan Fox... Apple has made some outlandish claims in the past - and IIRC the ASA have laid the boot in a couple of times - but that's a simple piece of subjective copy, which just about every ad agency on earth does just about all the time.
