Continue reading here.Interesting lineup, some embarrassing mistakes by MS here, but overall it could be good - especially for Mac users as Apple may even lower the price of iLife!

I do hope so. I get my updates through the Mac Box Set now so hopefully that will come down too.

Chat is essential? That said it's refreshing to see Apple vs. MS as a bout between two heavyweights rather than schoolyard bullying. A bit of competition should help improve things for people on all sides. MS especially could un-funk themselves if they get this one right.

Many windows users use IM chat so that could be their motivation.

It's not the best IM application, but as a video chat application it's the best I've used.

I could not possibly comment as I have not used it.

Entire city blocks ahead of MSN Messenger on OS X though, and Adium's good, but again, iChat does things it can't.

True, but compared to MSN on Windows it's nothing.

But MSN on Windows isn't (obviously) MSN on OS X. What's MSN on Windows do then? The features list I'd want from for any chat client would be... Text chat Audio chat Video chat File transfer Maybe remote admin (screen sharing) Anything else?

MSN is the chat platform I use, and it's okay. Not good, just okay.
The problem for me, is that file transfers fail about 80% of the time.
Why add a feature which hardly ever works?

I thought the comment about LiveMail was funny... Exchange support? This is a home user's free package, I don't know of many homes with their own Microsoft Exchange server sitting in the corner - mine and Jon Honeyball's excepted... A lot of companies seem to be keeping an Exchange 2003 server kicking around, even if they have upgraded, because it came with a site licence for Outlook. Only if they need Outlook 2007/2010 do they have to fork out. Likewise, most companies big enough to warrant an Exchange server are probably going to have site licensing for Office anyway. A much more complete look at the new suite here: http://www.winsupersite.com/live/wlwave4.asp

Have you tried the new beta? Doesn't bother me either way, I've never used either...
